Fitmas Party 2025

by | 13 Dec 2025

Tis’ the season to be jolly – but in true Link Torbay fashion, we could not host a party without having some fitness involved…So we thought why not turn the Christmas party into a fitness competition?!

There was still plenty of tinsel and Christmas jumpers, but we swapped pigs in blankets for the Ski erg and Christmas pudding for the rowing machine!

The day saw 8 of our young people from the bright futures project take part, in 3 teams, competing over the course of 3 different events.

Upon entry the young people where pleased to see that not only was one Father Christmas in attendance but 2! As well as one of their helpful elves in the form of Winners 2000’s boss Dean Turner. Father Christmas did not come empty handed either…Under the tree was a present for each of the young people, containing fully customised Link training gear (T-shirt, Shorts, and tracksuit bottoms) kindly provided by VX3.

Link Torbay - Fitmas Party 2025

Event 1 was the Ski Erg, the goal was to ski as far as possible in 15 minutes in their teams (one person skiing at a time, the others resting). Everyone went out at a relentless pace with some unbelievable distances being covered!
Event 2 involved lifting and throwing medicine balls as well as squats. This was a fantastic event as it was completely adapted to everyone’s capabilities, with the idea of pushing them as hard as possible, whilst remaining safe and enjoyable.

We finished with Event 3 on the Rowing Machine – a similar structure to Event 1, with the idea of rowing as far as possible as a team (one at a time), but in a 12 minute time cap. There were some tired bodies by this point, but everyone put in maximum effort and finished strong.

It was an incredible morning, with some brilliant fancy dress and effort levels like I have never seen before… Potentially too much effort at some points with some of the young people having to step outside for some air! But the level of competitiveness and dedication was inspiring to see. As well as teamwork from start to finish.
