About Link Torbay CIC

In April 2024 we created Link Torbay CIC. A CIC (Community Interest Company) is a Non-Profit, Social enterprise that is designed with the benefit of the community at heart.

After working with neurological conditions solely in the private sector for years, we noticed how important our service is to the community, and this led us to creating our own CIC as a sidearm to the business.

This enables us to create and host projects that directly benefit our local community.

Meet the CIC Directors

Tom Murch - Director and Founder of Link Torbay CiC

Tom Murch

Link Torbay CIC Founder & Director

I founded Link Torbay after Covid when I began to specialise in training adults and children with neurological conditions. I quickly realised how important the sessions in the gym where to all my clients and demand started to increase, particularly with the younger clients.

Due to the fact most of the conditions we work with are life long, I wanted to do all I could to help make these vitals sessions as sustainable as possible, particularly from a financial standpoint. This led to me founding Link Torbay CIC.

I am incredibly lucky to work alongside Martyn and Tom, the value they both bring to Link Torbay is immense, from Martyn’s lived experience to Toms in-depth knowledge from physiotherapy, they truly make Link Torbay special.

Link Torbay CIC Director

I started out studying Sport Science at Exeter University, which is where I met Tom – and we’ve been joined at the hip ever since.

After Uni, we both got into personal training, but my path eventually led me to qualify as a physiotherapist. Since then, I’ve worked across both the NHS and private sector, helping people recover, rebuild confidence, and feel more like themselves again.

When Tom first launched Link Torbay, it was incredible to see how much it meant to him to make a real difference in the lives of people who hadn’t previously had access to specialist training. Over the years, we’ve had countless conversations about how he could keep evolving the service to reach and support even more people.

So when he asked me to become a Director, I didn’t hesitate. I jumped at the chance to help grow the CIC and be part of something that’s genuinely changing lives.

Link Torbay is all about personalised coaching for adults and children with neurological conditions, and I’m proud to be able to support Tom journey that allows him puts care, connection, and progress at the heart of everything he does

Link Torbay CIC Director

I run a local recruitment company that provides IT recruitment solutions to businesses across the Southwest. As part of this I also provide disability awareness talks based on my experiences of living and working with Cerebral Palsy.

This is designed to educate, challenge assumptions and facilitate open conversations around disabilities in the workplace. The aim is to play a small part in removing barriers into the workplace for the next generation; it’s an area I’m passionate about and at its core, it has values and a vision that align with those of Link Torbay.

I started as a customer of Link Torbay and it has made an unbelievable and immeasurable difference to my life, how I navigate it with my family and what I can now achieve, with an exponential improvement in my quality of life.

As a result, I’m Link Torbay’s biggest cheerleader and passionate advocate of the work they do; so when Tom asked me to get involved, I jumped at the chance to play a very small part in making a difference to the lives of others.

I can’t wait to see how Link Torbay CIC evolves and look forward to being part of the journey!

Meet the Link Torbay CIC Ambassadors

Dan and Tom with a donation cheque for Link Torbay CIC

Dan

Dan turns 16 this year and has been training with us for 3 years now. Dan has a infectious energy for life and alongside being incredibly busy with his school activity’s and extra responsibility’s associated with them he never misses his daily exercises that keep him in great shape – often done before school!

Dan is also never shy of a challenge, he recently completed the Ten Tors Jubilee challenge for the 2nd year running, giving him his Silver medal and will no doubt be back for his gold next year! Dan also raised £4,000 (£2,000 for Link Torbay CIC and £2,000 for Bristol children’s hospital) through completing 3 events; the Jubilee challenge, Junior Park Run and the Car Fest Dash – we could not be more grateful for his huge efforts!

He also has a fitness competition lined up for September this year called Wodaptive, where he will work as a pair with one of our directors, Tom, to complete 3 challenging workouts against other pairs (some including Paralympic athletes!!).

Amongst all of the above Dan still finds time to host his weekly radio slot at Oceans Youth Radio, where he plays some brilliant music and has the chance to share his experiences

Luke

Luke is 42 years old and was our first ever client 4 years ago. Luke works at a local secondary school as a teaching assistant and has huge impact on everyone he meets.

Luke initially came to us to build strength and try to reduce his daily back pain and since fixing these issues has been able to add additional hours to his working week. Not only has Luke been able to work more since starting regular training but he’s also managed to do various physical challenges to fundraise for local charities, raising over £10,000 in the process, Including £3,00 for Link Torbay CIC!!

Luke’s outlook on life and sense of humour lighten any room he’s in. He plays a vital role in our community days and is a true role model for all of our younger clients.
