About Link Torbay

We provide Specialist Coaching for adults and children with neurological conditions.

Link Torbay was founded in 2021 by Tom Murch to to provide high quality personalised training to people who have limited access to training but benefit the most.  We give you the training tools to thrive in your environment.

The benefits of strength and conditioning are well documented which is why so many people all over the world regularly practice some form of exercise/strength training.  However there is a distinct lack of specialist coaching available for people with neurological conditions – even though these are the groups that benefit the most.

Link Torbay has the pleasure of working with some incredible people who have a large range of conditions, such as:

  • Cerebral Palsy (Adults and Children)
  • Epilepsy
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Acute brain injury
  • Rehabilitation from surgery such as following brain tumour removal.
  • Parkinson’s
  • The elderly and the young (our eldest client being 95 and youngest 8)

Not one of our clients goals are the same, which is why it is so important that our approach is completely customised to the individual. Here are some examples of our clients goals:

  • Building strength and co-ordination to help balance issues caused by Parkinson’s
  • Learning to walk again following a stroke.
  • Building full body strength and awareness, to be able to play football (Cerebral Palsy Child).

We have experience working on a one to one basis with private clients right through to working with large case management teams.

Finally, although we focus largely on using movement as a tool to achieve our goals, the other main focus is having fun along the way. The gym can be an incredibly social environment and here at Link Torbay we really utilise that as a second tool to drive the motivation on achieving our goals and having fun whilst we do it.

THE COACH

My name is Tom, I am 30 years old and I founded Link Torbay in 2021.

I have a lifelong interest in health and fitness, taking part in a variety of sports from a young age such as Swimming, Rugby, Tennis and Golf. I have recently developed a passion for triathlons, completing two Half Ironman’s and one Full Ironman.

I have over 8 years experience as a personal trainer in the fitness industry. Prior to working as a personal trainer, I studied Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Exeter, which is where I really found and developed my interest on how movement can be used as a tool to help people with disabilities.

I find it incredibly rewarding working with the clients at Link Torbay, particularly when I see the huge progressions they make, not only physically, but mentally too.

  • Bsc Sports and Exercise Science
  • Level 4 Long Term Management of Neurological conditions
