About Link Torbay

We provide specialist coaching for adults and children with neurological conditions, learning disabilities, and additional needs.

Founded in 2021 by Tom Murch, Link Torbay was created to provide high-quality, personalised training for people who often have limited access to specialist coaching — despite benefiting from it the most. Our goal is to give every client the tools, confidence, and support to thrive in their everyday environment.

The benefits of strength and conditioning are well documented, yet accessible specialist coaching remains limited for many people with additional needs. At Link Torbay, we bridge that gap through tailored, individual support in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

We work with people living with a wide range of conditions and support needs, including:

  • Cerebral Palsy (adults and children)
  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism and additional needs
  • Epilepsy
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Parkinson’s
  • Acute brain injury
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation, including brain tumour recovery

We also support clients of all ages — from children as young as 8 to adults aged 95.

No two clients are the same, which is why every programme is fully personalised. Goals may include:

  • Improving balance, strength, and coordination
  • Building confidence in movement and everyday activities
  • Supporting independence and physical wellbeing
  • Learning to walk again following injury or illness
  • Developing strength and body awareness for sport and daily life

We have experience working both one-to-one with private clients and alongside families, support workers, schools, case management teams, and rehabilitation professionals.

While movement and strength are at the heart of what we do, having fun matters too. We believe exercise should be positive, motivating, and enjoyable — helping people build confidence, social connection, and long-term wellbeing while working towards meaningful goals.

I have a lifelong interest in health and fitness, taking part in a variety of sports from a young age such as Swimming, Rugby, Tennis and Golf. I have also completed several triathlons, including an Ironman.

Underpinning my sporting background has always been a keen interest in the gym, from strength training in my rugby days, through to CrossFit and Hyrox in my later years. My broad personal experience of different training methodologies has given me a great understanding of how health and fitness isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ and the importance of adapting to the situation/demand.

I have over 8 years experience as a personal trainer in the fitness industry. Prior to working as a personal trainer, I studied Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Exeter, which is where I really found and developed my interest on how movement can be used as a tool to help people with neurological conditions and learning disabilities.

Area of interest/expertise:

Children with Neurological conditions and the importance of a fully personalised approach when implementing a health and fitness programme.

Qualifications:

  • Bsc Sports and Exercise Science
  • Level 4 Exercise for Long-term Neurological Conditions
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer

I’ve always been fascinated by human physiology and passionate about health and wellbeing. This began in my teenage years competing in swimming, rugby, and gymnastics, and ultimately led me to study Chiropractic at AECC University College, where I graduated in 2020.

Since then, my interest in health and fitness has continued to grow. I’ve spent over 12 years training for sports and fitness competitions through strength training, Olympic lifting, CrossFit, running, and swimming. Professionally, I’ve spent the past five years designing advanced rehabilitation programmes for musculoskeletal injuries, pain conditions, nerve injuries, and neurological conditions.

Over time I’ve developed a particular interest in individualised exercise for neurological conditions, completing further training as a Personal Trainer and in Exercise for Long-term Neurological Conditions. I’m also currently undertaking a part-time Master’s in Health Research Methods at the University of Exeter.

Areas of interest/expertise:
Evidence-based exercise and training for Parkinson’s disease and acquired brain injury.

Qualifications:

  • MChiro Masters of Chiropractic
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer
  • Level 4 Exercise for Long-term Neurological Conditions
  • Msc Health Research Methods (due to finish Summer 2026)

I’ve always been energised by movement, sport, and the outdoors. Growing up, I spent most of my time outdoors, exploring trails, and getting involved in any sport I could. That curiosity about how the body works led me to complete a Sports Science degree in 2016, which only deepened my fascination with human movement.

I went on to train as an Exercise Physiologist, where I discovered how powerful targeted exercise can be in helping people regain confidence in their bodies. For four years I worked as a personal trainer, supporting both children and adults through a wide range of goals—from returning to sport after injury to preparing for challenges like mountain climbs.

During this time, I found myself increasingly drawn to neurorehabilitation. Seeing how exercise could transform the lives of people with neurological conditions sparked a passion that ultimately guided my next step.  In 2023, I completed my Master’s in Physiotherapy, along my journey I have had the privilege of working with neurological patients both on the wards and out in the community with a variety of conditions. These experiences strengthened my commitment to this field and reinforced my desire to help people rebuild independence, resilience, and trust in their bodies through movement.

And the reason why I love what I do? Because there truly isn’t a feeling like helping someone achieve a meaningful goal after having worked so hard, whilst also having fun and enjoying every step.

Qualifications:

  • MSc Pre Reg Physiotherapist
  • BSc Sports and Exercise Science
  • ACSM Exercise Physiologist
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer
